The Studiengalerie der TH Stuttgart was founded in 1957 by Max Bense.

From 15th – 19th February 1965, the first show of digital computer graphics worldwide called Georg Nees: Generative Computergrafik was held in this institution. Sheets of Georg Nees were presented, which he had given to Max Bense. Also a portfolio, Mappenwerk 16 4 66, was published in 1966 in Stuttgart which contains computer graphics by Frieder Nake.
