The “Golden Plotter” is a competition and award in computer art offered by the city of Gladbeck in Germany.
It was first awarded in 1986 and continued to be called for every two years. In 2010, the 13th competition took place.
The competition is celebrated in an exhibition showing most of the entries. The winner takes a small sculpture in the form of a plotter device and a moderate financial reward (2,500 Euro in 2010). The Sparkasse Gladbeck and the Gesellschaft für Elektronische Kunst are the donors of the award.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog. It usually contains a few essays by authors often internationally known, and two pages per participating artist (text and image).
The competition and exhibition was up to 2010 organized and curated by Wolfgang Schneider from Museum der Stadt Gladbeck. The artist, critic, and author, Jürgen Claus, was often the chairperson of the jury.
