Lillian, one of the geniuses at the Labs (as stated by Arno Penzias and Max Matthews). She walked the floors looking for interesting items she could use as a tool for art. This piece, one of a series, involved re-coding the program used for designing transistors; a laser would crisscross the board (usually a non-conductive black over conductive gold). Instead of creating pathways, she created different scenes, such as the one above that has the science-fiction glow. (She studied lasers with Don White of the Labs. Later, she and Laurens Schwartz worked with Dr. Glass, the head of optical transmissions.
