Kreuz Kl, is part of an experimental series which aimed to transform images made up of figure and background into complementary images. The figures are composed of symbols. The number of symbols making up the figure in the starting image corresponds to the number of empty spaces (background).
The computer gradually transforms the initial figure into empty spaces, i.e. it interchanges figure and background. Interim images represent the process of transformation, whereby the “output-rhythm” can be selected.
The transformation of the work from positive to negative figures – is completed after 288 stages or movements.
