Summary

Bookseller and gallerist in Stuttgart (Germany) of nation-wide fame. Niedlich’s _Buchladen, as it was called, was for many years a cultural center in Stuttgart. It had its climax, perhaps, in the 1960s and 1970s, when political change, unrest, and hopes of revolutionary renewals raged through West Germany. Niedlich had moved from Marburg (Germany) to Stuttgart in order to get in closer contact with Max Bense and the artists and writers of the Stuttgart School. His gallery became the location of the third of the three first exhibitions of computer art when, from November 5 through 26, 1965, Frieder Nake and Georg Nees presented their work.
