Further, he was co-editor of Semiosis for many years.

1963-1970 Teaching profession at a gymnasium.
1968 Conferral of a doctorate through Max Bense at the Stuttgart Institute of Technology. The title of the disseration is Semiotische und numerische Analyse zweier Holzschnitte von Albrecht Dürer [Semiotic and numerical analysis of two woodcuts by Albrecht Dürer].
1972 Call for full professor in Cologne.
1978 Call for professorship of “Art and Didactics of Art” at the University Duisburg.
Since 1981 Member of the curatorship “Duisburger Kunstbesitz”.
Vice president of the “Vereinigung für Wissenschaftliche Semiotik” [Consortium for scientific Semiotics].
