Imaginäre Architektur [imaginary architecture] is a series Otto Beckmann produced in the late 1960s until the 1980s. The name describes their nature, architectural visions that are not planned to be build, but follow his artistic ideas. It is an artistic examination of the environment under the concious renouncement of functional details, that creates a sculpture out of architectural design.
The first works in that realm were based on plexiglass objects that later were processed by a computer. Thereby different kinds of results occured, facade‐like designs, virtual 3D-objects, shown either as plan and frontal or as perspective view [cf. Archiv Otto Beckmann, The Work of Otto Beckmann, 2011].
This series includes as well Imaginäre Architektur.
