The d.velop digital art award [ddaa] is given to pioneers of digital art for their life’s achievements, or for an important group of works, and for original geometric research. The award is organized by the Digital Art Museum [DAM] in Berlin (director: Wolf Lieser). Besides a substantial monetary prize (currently 20,000 Euro), the award comprises a retrospective exhibition at Kunsthalle Bremen, and a catalog.
The prize started as an annual award but, after two years, was switched to bi-annual.
It was initiated by Wolf Lieser who got the software company d.velop AG in Gescher, Germany, to finance its beginning. Since 2008, the main sponsor is Haupt Pharma AG in Berlin (first represented by Hans-Christian Semmler).
Awardees so far are:
2005 Vera Molnar (France)
2006 Manfred Mohr (Germany/USA)
2008 Norman White (Canada)
