title: Hiroshi Kawano - Der Philosoph am Computer
Description

From September 24th, 2011, to January 8th, 2012.
This was Kawano’s last solo show, just about one year before his death.
The show celebrated him as a pathfinder along the way of computer technology into the arts. Himself a philosopher, Kawano began as early as 1963 – with the help of a professional programer – to write programs for images, poems, sculptures, and musical compositions.

Besides a large selection from his work Kawano exhibited many of his own and others’ publications – prominently amongst them Max Bense’s phiosophical and, in particular, asthetical texts.

At closing the exhibition Kawano donated his works and archive to ZKM.
